Live events are go… nearly…

Boris says so… by June 21st possibly…
well hopefully…

Still some uncertainty there but all of us at plus exhibition are getting just a little bit excited at the prospect of a return to live events. Our customers are also being infected with optimism as some of them have already booked space and are having conversations with our project managers about their exhibition stands… actual physical exhibition stands that people will be able to visit.

What’s happening with live event venues?

None of us are quite sure how live shows will look as they recommence – nobody is expecting to be able to jump back in exactly where we left off. The safety of venue staff, exhibitors and attendees will of course be number one priority whilst ensuring that events will still be exciting, effective and successful. UK venues are raring to get started and are continuing to work hard to put safety measures in place – information on how they are doing this is available on the venues’ individual websites. A lot of shows from the first half of this year will now take place in 2022 but some expos/exhibitions intended for summer are still tentatively on the calendar. Confidence in the industry looks to be stronger in the Autumn with the NEC in Birmingham going ahead with plans to host their popular tv based exhibitions –  A Place in the Sun Live and Grand Designs Live, with the ever popular (maybe more popular post-global pandemic) Motorhome & Caravan Show also still scheduled to go ahead.

Trending – physical / virtual hybrid events

Exhibitors are still looking to how they can maximise visitors to their event as there may still be restrictions on air travel, reducing attendees to international shows and also less desire to travel in this new ‘shall we just zoom’ world. Hybrid events may be the answer – they are certainly looking like being the new trend in the events industry. Imagine – a virtual event running alongside your physical one creating two experiences within one event. In person events will still be the most immersive experience but the benefits of adding virtual capabilities include high impact visuals and the ability to revisit a talk/webinar/demo. Of course this on demand function can also be made available to your live attendees – extending your event way beyond the limited time slot of the live event.
